The name of the awards is from an award given throughout the year on the CLF forum, The Flaming Crochet Hook of Justice, which is given to someone “who represents the ideals of the Crochet Liberation Front” or “who have gone out of their way to bring crochet to the forefront, or stand up for the craft in general.”

A list of the categories and nominees, along with a link to the voting booth, are provided at the CLF Blog – Hook the Vote! 2009 Crochet Awards and Crochet Uncut is one of the nominees for “Best Online Crochet Magazine 2008,” so go vote! I’m currently working on the awards using several 3D software programs and they’re pretty sweet if I say so myself. Each winner will receive a copy of the award with their name “engraved” on the trophy and I’ll also be offering a printed version of the awards (just to the winners, sorry folks) for the cost of printing and shipping.

Awards will be presented on March 16th on the Getty Loopy podcast with Mary Beth Temple and published on the CLF blog and here once they are available. I’ll be adding the winners to this article as soon as I can, so check back on the 16th to see who made off with the goods.

March 16, 2009 – Well, I wasn’t able to make the awards show due to brakes that had to be replaced immediately but all who were there say it went splendidly even with a few glitches. Laurie Wheeler has listed all the winners on the CLF blog but I’ll go ahead and add them here as promised.

Individual Life Time Achievement Award Winner
Margaret Hubert (RavelryID – MHDesigner1)

Most Deserving of the Flaming Hook of Justice Award
David Burchall

Fearless Leader Award for a Crochet Friendly Yarn Company
Tahki/Stacy Charles

Best Crochet Magazine
Interweave Crochet

Best Instructional/Technical Crochet Book
Blue Print Crochet, Robyn Chachula (RavelryID – crochetbyfaye)

Best Crochet Pattern Book
Crochet that Fits: Shaped Fashion without increases or decreases, Mary Jane Hall (RavelryID – maryjane2)

Best Crochet Instructor
Robyn Chachula (RavelryID – crochetbyfaye)

Best Crochet Blog
The Crochet Dude – http://www.blog.thecrochetdude.com

Best Crochet Designer for Women’s Fashions
Doris Chan (RavelryID – DorisJChan)

Best Crochet Designer – Accessories
Kim Guzman (RavelryID – CrochetKim)

Best Crochet Designer – Men’s Wear
Drew Emborsky (RavelryID – thecrochetdude)

Best Crochet Designer – Children
Candi Jensen (Ravelry ID – Candijensen)

Best Designer – Thread Projects
Patricia Kristoffersen

Best Free Form Designer
Margaret Hubert (Ravelry ID – MHDesigner1)

Best New Designer
Tracie Barrett ( Ravelry ID – traciecrochets)

Best Crochet Designer – Home Décor
Ellen Gormley (Ravelry ID – Gocrochet)

Best Crochet Design for Adults
Dragonfly Shawl by Lisa Naskrent (Ravelry ID – crochetgarden)

Best Design Home Décor
Sunburst Bowl by Carol Ventura (Ravelry ID – Tapestrycrochet)

Best Online Crochet Magazine
Crochet Insider – http://www.crochetinsider.com

Best Crochet Podcast
Getting Loopy – http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Mary-Beth-Temple

Best Crochet Hooks – Individual
Jimbo’s Hooks – http://www.jimbosfrontporch.blogspot.com

Best Crochet Hook – Corporation
Boye

Most Crochet Friendly Yarn Company
Lion Brand

Best Crochet Event
Chainlink, Manchester NH

Congratulations to all the winners and for a peek at the awards, take a look at my website – 2009 “Flamies” Graphic Awards.
