Once again, most of the patterns in this issue are mine and use the African Flower motif in a variety of ways. We also have a design from Alia Smith on making a mat named BOB. In addition, you’ll find two Christmas ornament patterns, a sock and a hat, that work up quickly and would look great hanging from your tree. There are two book reviews and one for the knook, a crochet hook that is used to knit. If you have had trouble learning to knit because of the two sticks, then this is a technique that just might help you get started.
If you’d like to win a Knook, I’m giving away one on our Facebook fan page. All you have to do is make a comment on the Knook contest post on Facebook and tell me what your favorite pattern is from any issue of Crochet Uncut along with what you like about it. I’ll take down the names of everyone who posts their favorite pattern and draw one name at random. I’ll then contact the winner in order to get your mailing address so you can get your prize. Deadline for entering is 11/19/11. That gives you just over a week to enter!
One note on the hat and sock ornaments … these patterns are part of a full pattern set called “Santa’s Washing” that includes a jacket and trousers in addition to the hat and a smaller version of the sock. The full pattern is available on Ravelry for $4.50. It will also be added to my Artfire store in the near future.
