NaturallyCaron Spa is a blend of acrylic and bamboo, which provides a great drape, softness, and shine to the yarn. Spa is softer than the Country yarn and thinner which makes for a great yarn for sweaters, tops, and baby items. I like that the acrylic helps to give the yarn strength and drape along with the silky sheen of the bamboo, but, the yarn can be a bit slippery and seemed to work better with an acrylic hook. I had some trouble with this yarn on a bamboo hook as it kept catching on the wood so would suggest sticking with a metal or acrylic hook. I’m assuming the same would go for bamboo knitting needles. As with the Country yarn, this yarn does split some, but using a hook with a rounded tip usually takes care of this most of the time.
Overall, this is a very nice yarn, with a nice drape, sheen, and sofness. The only real issue I had with this yarn besides the splitting is that I found a few sections where the yarn looked like the image below and this was after pulling just a few yards out of the skein so I don’t believe it was something I had done. The yarn before and after these sections looked fine, so cutting and joining the yarn wasn’t an issue (other than I had to do it at all).
